Athletics
The King’s Academy athletic program strives to foster a competitive-collaborative environment in which students shine as individuals and also learn the value and joy of teamwork. We encourage students to participate in a variety of physical activities that provide both relaxation from their rigorous academic schedules and boundless benefits for their bodies and minds. Sports and physical fitness activities are a regular part of each student’s curriculum.
To this end, King’s Academy features an impressive 5,548 square-meter indoor athletic center accommodating a semi-Olympic swimming pool, squash courts, a multi-purpose gymnasium and exercise facilities. The Athletic Center is a major campus facility; it provides a venue for daily team practices and individual training as well as local and regional competitions. The campus also contains a number of outdoor facilities, including multiple soccer fields and a track, along with tennis, basketball and handball courts. A highly qualified athletic trainer is available to treat injuries.
Athletics complement the academic program by teaching important life skills. As coaches, we emphasize leadership, ethical conduct, accountability and self-discipline; we encourage students to understand the importance of participating to the fullest both as an individual and as a teammate.
King’s Academy collaborates with its peer schools in Jordan through the Amman Athletic Conference (AAC). The AAC is comprised of 11 schools in the Greater Amman area. Throughout the year, the Lions host teams from Jordan and countries around the region. Interscholastic sports include basketball, cross country, soccer, squash, swimming, tennis, track and field and volleyball. King’s Academy also offers a host of other athletic activities such as badminton, dance, fencing, horseback riding, rock climbing, rugby and weight training.
