Core Principles

A community effort

Countries around the world have shown that when citizens work together and follow a few simple guidelines, they can greatly reduce transmission of the virus. Conversely, countries resisting simple measures or applying them inconsistently have seen a reduced efficacy in fighting the virus. Through acting together as a community at King's, we will be able to create the safest environment for the highest quality learning experience. This is a moment in history that we are all in together.

Minimizing travel 

The single largest risk to the health and safety of the King’s Academy community is travel off campus. When on campus, mixing happens with a controlled group of people. When off campus, community members come into contact with a constantly changing group of people. For this reason, We have taken steps to minimize travel to and from campus, thereby reducing the risk of introducing the virus to the community. 


Practicing healthy hygiene

Healthy hygiene is at the heart of any virus prevention plan. Wearing masks, keeping a physical distance from others, washing hands with soap for 20 seconds, and avoiding touching one’s face are steps every individual can take that have an enormous impact on the health of the larger community. King’s Academy’s social distancing protocols involve education and practice of healthy hygiene, first and foremost.


Cleaning and disinfection

A robust cleaning and disinfection plan supplements individual practices. Classrooms, the dining hall and dormitories will continue to be cleaned and disinfected, with some spaces being cleaned multiple times per day.


Prevention as purpose

We are fortunate that our efforts are preventive ones – extra precautions taken in a context that already has only rare cases of the virus. The preventive efforts we take as a country and as a school help reduce the likelihood that even if or when the virus does appear, it will have less opportunity to spread, and we will be able to be most resilient. 

Reducing gatherings 

While our community is built around shared gatherings like school meetings, sit-down meals, gatherings by grade level and more, we have adapted our programming to reduce these large-scale moments that would increase risk for transmission.


Monitoring and screening

Daily screenings of students and employees enable us to monitor community health proactively. Protocols for screening  including asking a series of CDC-recommended questions about  symptoms experienced in the past 24 hours – will be part of the daily schedule of all community members.
