King’s Academy, March 14, 2016 — On March 3, King’s Academy parents Mohammed and Monserrat Tamer generously hosted a fundraising dinner in Jeddah for over 60 guests – including King’s Academy parents and friends – in support of the school’s financial aid program, and the new dorm and faculty housing project. After a special speaking program, guests were inspired to support the future of the school with over $1 million in generous contributions.
During the speaking program that included Chairman of the Board HE Bassem Khalil Al-Salem, Headmaster John Austin and several alumni (Ribal Alkhatib ’10, Rayan Fadul ’10 and Abdulaziz Siraj ’11), Austin said that the new dorm project will add to the vitality of the King’s Academy community – by accommodating a growing number of boarding students as well as attracting – and keeping – the highest quality of faculty by providing housing for both individuals and families.
Austin also shared inspiring stories from some of the students who receive some form of financial aid at King’s Academy, and how that opportunity has changed their lives and futures.
“We are extremely grateful to the Tamer family for their tremendous support of King’s Academy, and for the wonderful members of the Jeddah community who came together to support the school,” said Rima Zaitoon, Chief Development Officer. “It is only through the generosity of the families and friends of King’s Academy that we can achieve a sustainable school model and ensure a bright future for the next generations of King’s students.”
