King’s Academy, November 9, 2015 — A new endowment fund, the Omar and Aysha Shoman Scholarship Fund, was recently established at King’s Academy in support of the school’s best performing student with a demonstrated need for financial aid.
The gift was made possible by long-time supporters of King’s brother and sister Omar and Aysha Shoman, who made a generous contribution back in 2009 to honor the memory of their late father, former deputy chairman and president of the Arab Bank Khalid Shoman. On that occasion, a classroom in the King Hussein Humanities Wing of the Academy Building was named after Mr. Khalid Shoman.
“We are deeply grateful to Omar and Aysha for their leadership and generosity,” said Headmaster John Austin. “There is perhaps no greater gift than the gift of an education, and this scholarship is an important step towards King’s fulfilling His Majesty’s vision of a school that would be open to all Jordanians.”
Chairman of the Board HE Bassem Al-Salem also hailed the Shomans’ generosity, saying, "this grant will enable the future generations of outstanding youth, regardless of their background and financial ability, to study at King's and fulfil the school’s mission in creating an integrated learning environment for students to learn, be independent, and think creatively”.
