Students engage with community on Middle School Service Day

On Middle School Service Day, students broke into their advisory groups to participate in acts of service within the wider community. Although community service is regularly conducted throughout the year, on MS Service Day — an annual Middle School tradition — a whole day during Spring Minimesters is dedicated to it.

This year, the 7th and 8th graders conducted various activities including a visit to the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Hospital For Children where students spent the day keeping children on dialysis entertained by playing games with them, reading books and doing arts and crafts. A second group visited Al Aqsa Charity Association in Madaba where they painted rooms and donated food packages for Ramadan purchased using funds raised during a recent bake sale. Several groups of students visited SOS Village where they painted and decorated rooms and beautified the grounds by planting small trees and flowers. Meanwhile, at the Innovation Lab in Madaba, other students painted wall murals in addition to planting trees in re-purposed painted tires. The Middle Schoolers also visited Al Akhella' School where they spent time with orphaned children of various ages, accompanying them in class, playing games, reading stories, and conducting relay races and arts and crafts.
