Samsung Innovation Campus launched at King’s

A signing ceremony was held on Monday between King’s Academy and Samsung Electronics Levant to launch the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) at King’s Academy — the first school in Jordan to offer the program.

Samsung Innovation Campus is an information, communication and technology (ICT) education initiative offered globally by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the South Korean multinational electronics corporation and one of the world's largest technology companies. The SIC aims to provide students and youth with core competencies such as AI, IoT, coding and programming, in addition to a range of soft skills to foster talented youth, enhance their employment prospects, and help them gain practical education in technologies.

Launched in October, the SIC at King’s Academy collaboration will see software engineers from Samsung Levant’s Research and Development Center provide training and mentoring to 26 King’s students over the course of a semester to develop their skills in coding, programming and robotics.

“I am very pleased to launch the Samsung Innovation Campus at King’s Academy,” said President of Samsung Levant Hendrick Lee during the ceremony. “I hope that the support and mentorship provided by our software engineers from Samsung’s Research and Development Center in Jordan will be helpful in teaching your students to build their software skills and show them how they can use these skills in the future.”

According to Lee, the SIC will equip students with the ability to recreate and apply the acquired knowledge, thereby enhancing their competency in the real-life job market and helping students to grow into well-rounded professionals equipped with robust skills that are in high demand in all industries.

“We are keen to give opportunities to all people, especially youth, to be involved in the IT industry,” said Lee. “By empowering future generations, we are helping children reach their full potential and we are looking for kids who will be leaders of the next generation.”

Speaking at the ceremony, Head of School Peter Nilsson said: “Samsung equals innovation, and the more ways we can partner with organizations like Samsung the better, for our students, for our outreach, for the international community. We really are grateful for this opportunity and are excited about what this will mean for our students.”
