On Tuesday, February 5, King’s invited guest lecturer Dr. Kimberly Katz, a distinguished Fulbright scholar and professor of Middle Eastern studies at Towson University in Maryland, to speak to students taking Modern Jordanian History, as well as other students and faculty. Dr. Katz discussed her book Jordanian Jerusalem: Holy Places and National Spaces, which explores the role of Jerusalem's holy places in the process of creating a distinct national identity in Jordan from 1948 to 1967. Following her riveting presentation, Dr. Katz took questions from students and faculty alike and encouraged students to explore the rich but often understudied artifacts from Jordan’s modern history.
