Middle School Hand Chimes Start Holiday Season

On Monday, December 2, the Middle School Hand Chimes Ensemble filled the art gallery with festive spirit with their Christmas concert. Led by Director Nadeen Qubain, Middle Schoolers Joelle Banna, Mark Theodory, Roshan Nepal, Aliah AlShouani. Bianca Catalano, Galyna Gvozdovska, Alisha Senior, Salim Jerome, and Maya Saidi delivered a polished and highly entertaining program. The music produced by the synchronized chimes was both unique and powerful, to say the least, and it certainly created a holiday atmosphere in the crowded gallery.. Their selection of traditional Christmas carols included a solemn “Silent Night,” a rousing “Deck the Halls,” and a memorable performance of the difficult “Carol of the Bells.”

What was most striking about the performance — other than the talent of the musicians — was the high degree of coordination exhibited. To produce this lovely music, the members of the group, each holding two chimes, had to hit their notes at exactly the right moment.  Their flawless execution attested to the purposeful rehearsals that taught each student an important lesson about teamwork and concentration. The result: a stirring concert that delighted everyone present. Thank you to all involved!
