King’s Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Nathan Haller Taylor to the newly created position of Director of Health and Wellness.
Dr. Taylor has over three decades of diverse experience in mental health services, school psychology, and educational leadership across the United States and Middle East. He holds a Ph.D. in Psychology with a focus on Human Resource Development from North Carolina State University as well as advanced degrees in Clinical Psychology and Psychology from Louisiana State University and Haverford College, respectively.
Since 2015, he served as School Psychologist and Counseling Team leader at Dhahran Middle School within the Saudi Aramco Expatriate Schools (SAES), where he oversaw counseling services for more than 1,100 students, including boarding school placement and psychological support for multiple grade levels. Prior to that, Dr. Taylor served in key roles at the American Community School in Beirut and held senior leadership positions in North Carolina’s public mental health sector, where he built award-winning child and family service programs.
A dedicated educator, Dr. Taylor has taught at Lehigh University, American University of Beirut, and Durham Technical Community College, delivering undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology, counseling, and research methods. His international teaching experience has included IB and AP Psychology instruction, and his work in Lebanon helped establish student counseling centers and graduate clinical programs.
A serendipitous encounter with the job offer from King’s convinced Dr. Taylor to postpone his retirement. As a parent of a former Arabic Year student and as an “adult Third Culture Kid,” Dr. Taylor brings an empathetic, experiential approach to this new position. He will use his expertise to consult on cases, provide clinical supervision to the counselor, and collaborate with the Learning Center. He will be joined by Zeena Al Ali '18, King’s Academy alumna, as the School Counselor.
