Six King’s Academy students broke a new record when they ranked among the world’s top 10 achievers in this year’s Edexcel International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) A-Level Arabic exam. The “outstanding high achievers” – Monya Twaissi ’16, Mohammad Al Majali ’15, Mallak Al Husban ’15, Majdul Islam Al Rowwad ’15, Saad Anabtawi ’16 and Layla Hazaineh ’16 – have helped solidify King’s strong reputation for earning top marks in the annual exam, and will be honored at the British Council’s Queen Rania Outstanding UK Learner Awards ceremony (held under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah) on December 1.

Twaissi is the fifth student at King’s to earn first place world-wide after Aseel Al Soub ’10, Hazem Hashem ’12, Qais Khraisat ’13 and most recently Omaymah Al Harahsheh ’14. This is the first year King’s offers the class to 11th grade students and – due to the high interest and impressive results – is set to offer it to 10th graders next year.

“We’re very proud of our students and this is a testament to the strength of the Arabic program at King’s,” said Head of CRLA Arabic Mohammad Al-Ashkar. “We hope to help students of all levels improve their Arabic and build on the skills needed to succeed academically and beyond.”
