On April 15, King’s Academy held its second annual fitness competition, which aims to test students’ physical and mental stamina, endurance and strength.
Ten teams participated in this year’s competition, with each team made up of one female and one male participant. Taking place in the Saad Rafic Hariri Athletic Center, the competition was organized by students enrolled in fitness co-curriculars who also judged the event alongside the school’s Athletics Department.
“All teams did a great job and were on fire!” says coach Anas Al-Khudari. During the competition, which aims to test feats of strength and endurance in a fun environment through a series of workouts, the teams compete in two rounds, with the fastest four teams in round one moving on to the next round.
In round one, boys on the team had to burn 15 calories and girls had to burn 10 calories rowing, then complete alternating exercises of 30 squats with weight, 20 sit-ups with weight and 20 box jumps. Round two took off with the fastest four teams who had to beat the other teams by finishing first a series of 15 reps (for boys) and 10 reps (for girls) of burpees, kettlebell swings, leg raises, and one round on the stairs.
Taking first place was Noora Haffejee ’26 and Waleed Khanfar ’26, in second place was Zaid Fanous ’24 and Salma AbuEnaj ’24, and Faris Lahham ’24 and Jude Nofal ’24 took third place.
