King’s hosts art night fundraiser

King’s Academy hosted a fundraising “art night” on April 22 at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts to benefit the school’s Department of Fine and Performing Arts and to raise awareness about the arts in Jordan.

The sold-out event was held under the patronage of HRH Princess Ghida Talal – a parent of three at King’s Academy and the chairperson of the King’s Academy Parent Council, as well as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts and the chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation.

The Art Night included a seated dinner, a keynote presentation by King’s Academy Dean of the Faculty John Leistler on Middle Eastern art history, a silent auction – including artwork from HRH Princess Wijdan, Sami Nabeel, and Nisreen Abudail – a raffle, and special King’s Academy student performances.

“Art is a force that gives our lives meaning, and it renders our world beautiful through the perspective that we see,” Princess Ghida said at the event. “I salute King’s Academy for playing an important role in promoting art awareness on campus and in the kingdom,” she added.
