King’s Academy observes Asteroid Day

King’s Academy observed Asteroid Day on June 30, a global event raising awareness about asteroids and their effects on Earth. Asteroid Day aims to educate the public about the role of asteroids in the formation of our solar system, their impact in space resources and the importance of defending our planet from future impacts.

King’s Academy hosted members of the Jordanian Astronomical Society (JAS) for seminars about asteroids and meteorites, followed by an open forum for discussions. Adli Halabi from JAS presented on the history of asteroids, findings and their effects on Earth. Hani AlDalee from Qatar University presented on meteorites, their existence, different types, and scientific research about them. The group then conducted stargazing activities at the school's Omar A. Aggad Observatory, which houses one of the region’s most powerful telescopes.
