King’s Academy Joins the Boarding Schools’ Association

King’s Academy has recently gained admission to the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA), an esteemed organization that provides professional development services to boarding schools around the world. Admitted as an International Affiliate Member, King’s will work on gaining full membership over the next two years.

Importantly, BSA works exclusively with boarding schools and members of boarding school faculties, offering “essential training in the skills required to work in a boarding environment.”  Based in the United Kingdom, the Association’s work serves over 640 boarding schools globally, benefitting over 70,000 students in the UK and many additional thousands around the world. BSA offers boarding school teachers and staff a host of online seminars, tutorials and workshops that stimulate professional growth and offer systematic training for teachers and residential faculty. Internationally, much of BSA’s instruction is provided online, but the organization also sends teams to visit campuses around the world.

In addition, the BSA Academy works in conjunction with Buckingham University to offer Certificate and master’s degree programs designed explicitly for boarding school teachers and staff. These programs offer our faculty members a variety of new paths on which they can learn new skills and develop professionally—and in so doing better serve our students.

Head of the Upper School Michael Barraclough is excited by the school’s admission to BSA, stating that it “represents a commitment to boarding excellence and development and places us alongside many of the best boarding schools in the world. We have gained access to excellent opportunities for our boarding faculty to connect with best practices and high-quality training.”
