CRLA students present final projects

In lieu of presenting in person, the Department of Communication, Rhetoric and the Literary Arts (CRLA) created a website to showcase junior and senior students’ final English and Arabic Seminar and Portfolio interdisciplinary projects.

Students in 11th and 12th grade taking English Seminar addressed topics this year such as immigration and occupation, gender and cultural translation. Ninth graders meanwhile, who also used the platform to showcase their final projects, used multi-disciplinary perspectives to investigate contemporary topics such as COVID-19, water and unemployment. In their Arabic Seminar and Portfolio courses, students tackled subjects such as the portrayal of women in Arabic literature, studied cultural and folkloric narratives, and made comparisons between films and the novels they were adapted from.

Presented online, the final projects encompassed presentations, podcasts and videos, all demonstrating the wide inquiry and deep analysis the students have been practicing in their courses.
