Alumni touch base in Boston despite massive blizzard

Neither rain nor snow could keep the King’s Academy community away from the fourth annual Boston reception last Friday. Hosted by Headmaster John Austin at Central Bistro’s Paris Café, the event allowed alumni and friends of the school to reconnect with former classmates, share stories from college and talk about school news.

Some 40 alumni and friends of King’s braved the unusually snowy streets of Boston to attend the event, coming from as far as Vermont and as close as a few blocks away. Also in attendance were Dean of the Faculty John Leistler, Associate Dean of the Faculty Lilli Audeh and US Liaison Officer Matt Westman.

“I really enjoyed getting back together with some of my best friends,” said Josh Claxton ’14, Middlebury College freshman and alumnus of the Arabic Year (AY) program. “My experience at King's was amazing and I think it's important to remain in frequent contact with the school and the great people it fosters.”

Prospective AY students had a chance to meet young alumni and chat with current and former faculty members. As Ghaida Tayeh ’11, a senior at Northeastern University, noted, “It was really great seeing other alumni who are in the Boston area. I didn't realize how many other friends from King's are here! It was also great seeing Ms. Lilli who was my advisor for the four years at King's!”
