Understanding: STEM Perspectives
These presentations explore the nature and effects of COVID-19 through the STEM disciplines.
Essential Question
Why do some young healthy people suffer more acutely from serious side-effects of Coronavirus?
COVID-19 is strangely—and tragically—selective. Researchers are now gearing up to scour the patients’ genomes for DNA variations that explain why some have more serious side effects than others. The findings could be used to identify those most at risk of serious illness and those who might be protected, and they might also guide the search for new treatments.
