Financial Aid
King’s Academy has a pioneering — and unparalleled — commitment to need-based financial aid and educational opportunity. We seek to provide a world-class education for all students, regardless of their financial constraints. Many of our brightest students come from families who do not have the means to enroll their kids at a private educational institution such as King’s. Over 49 percent of our students receive some form of support that is funded by generous donors who believe in diversity and in accessibility to quality education.
Spendable gifts to financial aid maintain scholarships that bring students to King’s Academy, even if their families cannot afford to pay tuition. In today’s economic climate, and at a young school like King’s Academy, spendable gifts are a fundamental fundraising priority until the school builds a sizeable endowment.
Faculty Development
Nothing is more important to the future success of King’s Academy students than the quality of the teaching, advising and classroom instruction they receive. Recruiting, retaining and developing a world-class faculty, therefore, is among our highest priorities.
Moreover, we aim to raise funds for the professional development of our early and mid-career faculty members. As King’s Academy grows, it is critical that we invest in our high-impact teachers by providing them opportunities for on- and off-campus professional development. In the past, our faculty have pursued summer graduate study at the Klingenstein Center of Columbia University, The Bread Loaf School of English and Middlebury College, among other programs. A fund for faculty development could support the pursuit of graduate study, or give more experienced teachers the resources they need for curriculum innovation and development.
Facilities
Faculty housing and additional student housing are urgently needed. The 35 buildings on our 144-acre campus are now either near or at their maximum capacity. To ensure a consistent and high-quality experience for all students, we will need to eventually renovate and expand not only our dormitories, classrooms and faculty family residences, but also our dining hall and student union, the auditorium and theater, the 50,000-book library, our multi-faith spiritual center, observatory, and our athletic facilities, which are among the finest in the region.
Athletics
Physical well-being is an essential component of any world-class education, and athletics are a vibrant part of life at King’s Academy. Our co-curricular programs include basketball, cross country, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and field and volleyball. King’s Academy also offers a host of other athletic activities such as badminton, dance, fencing, horseback riding, rock climbing, rugby and weight training. Most students participate in athletics in some capacity while at King’s Academy. Our varsity and junior varsity teams compete with other schools in Jordan and the region, bringing home titles and raising awareness of the Academy’s mission among our peers. By giving a gift to athletics, you are alleviating budget constraints and helping us carry on the tradition of sportsmanship and athletic excellence that has already taken root here at King’s. Your contribution may support local tournaments, maintain our state-of-the-art facilities or purchase new equipment and uniforms. Donating to King’s Academy Athletics builds team and school spirit, uniting our community and promoting our founding principles.
Arts
At King’s Academy, we believe that the arts are an essential component to a well-balanced curriculum. Our arts programs encourage students to explore the range of their talents through a variety of classes and co-curricular offerings. All students take at least one fine or performing arts course during their time at King’s and can enroll in classes such as Chamber Music, Music Theory, Drawing and Painting, Sculpture and Advanced 2-D Design. There are also a number of co-curricular majors and minors that provide students with an artistic outlet including Theater, Mosaics, Dabkeh, Improv and Photography. The meticulous work our students put into their creations and performances is a tradition at King’s and a contribution to the arts ensures that tradition continues. By giving to the arts at King’s Academy, you are providing the tools our students use to discover their creative potential.
