Message from the Chairman of the Board of Trustees

On behalf of the King’s Academy Board of Trustees, it is my pleasure to extend my thanks and appreciation to you, our passionate and inspiring community of donors, trustees, faculty, staff, parents and alumni for the incredible difference that you are making to the school and its future generations of young leaders.

I write in this edition of The Lion’s Pride to share with you some news about a major transition happening on campus. In the spring of the 2022-2023 academic year, we will bid farewell to King’s third head of school, Peter Nilsson, and we will welcome Stephanie “Penny” Townsend as the fourth head of school.

While we are deeply thankful for and appreciative of Peter’s leadership in realizing the vision of this unique institution, especially all his hard work during the pandemic, we are also thrilled to have our first woman head of school. Penny is a passionate educator who brings to King’s extensive experience as a head of school.

I look forward to working with you, our community of loyal donors, alongside Penny, to pave the path to a brighter future, especially this year, as we celebrate King’s 15th anniversary in 2022-2023.

On the occasion of this special milestone, and as we reflect on years past and look forward to the future of King’s Academy, we need to work closely to take crucial steps and ensure that King’s Academy continues to push forward as a powerhouse of teaching and academic excellence in Jordan and beyond.

I am deeply grateful for your commendable generosity that is allowing us to offer each student with a personalized educational experience, one that our faculty and staff members are proud to provide. We must also carry on working to enrich student life in the classroom and beyond, to expand possibilities, to honor creativity, and most importantly to engage more support that would enable us to grow the school’s endowment, thus maintain a financial foundation for future generations, and keep the school on a plane of excellence in education.

Put simply, we couldn’t do it without you, our devoted friends. You are the reason we are able to provide scholarships to deserving students. Your steadfast support ensures that the brightest students come to King’s, regardless of background and circumstance, and that once they are here, they are taught by the best teachers in state-of-the-art facilities.

Today and as we take stock of philanthropy’s impact and look toward to what we all hope will be a better future, I remain optimistic — because of you. Thank you for believing in us.

Sincerely,

Ali H. Kolaghassi
Chairman of the Board of Trustees
