Launching our King’s Alumni Portals
February 2021

In collaboration with the King’s Academy Alumni Association (KAAA), the Advancement Office successfully launched two online alumni platforms in February. These online spaces allow the growing alumni community to stay in touch, create mentoring relationships and access a network of career service experts and employers.

The King’s Community allows alumni to engage with one another informally and through an in-built mentoring tool. Users can also create their own professional profiles, message others in the alumni community through the directory and share job opportunities.

Localized is a career services portal that connects alumni with industry experts and employers across the MENA region and beyond. The platform also hosts a variety of free webinars with these experts and professionals on a weekly basis.

A (Virtual) Sit-Down with Khalook Al-Yassin ’12
March 2021

In March 2021, the first-ever Alumni Talk was held on Localized, one of the King’s alumni platforms. King’s alumni had the opportunity to listen Khalook Al-Yassin ’12 talk about his journey of becoming a strategic partner manager at YouTube and ask questions about his experience. Among the myriad of topics, Khalook spoke about the importance of diversifying content on social media platforms, how data is king and the future of content creation in the MENA region.

Alumni-to-alumni connections are invaluable, especially as young alumni navigate the start of their careers. The Alumni Talk series will continue to provide opportunities for King’s alumni to get a glimpse into various career paths and be inspired to reach even greater heights.

Updates from The Lion’s Den
March 2021

As part of an effort to keep alumni connected to King’s after graduation, the Advancement Office launched The Lion’s Den, a weekly alumni newsletter. The purpose of this newsletter is to keep alumni in the loop of campus happenings and relevant updates. Since the launch, the newsletter has featured alumni spotlights, work opportunities promoted by alumni and the journey of the Class of 2021 from students to alumni.

Those interested in sharing anything with the wider alumni community or that have any feedback on the newsletter, please send an email to alumni@kingsacademy.edu.jo.

Conversations between Alumni and Almost-Alumni
April 2021

With college acceptances rolling in, our Class of 2021 seniors had the chance to meet with several King’s alumni back in April and ask all about life after graduation. At the virtual meeting, alumni from around the world tuned in to answer questions and share their personal experiences about transitioning from King’s to university life.

One of the alumni panelists, Firas Mouasher ’12, talked about the imposter syndrome he felt during his freshmen year at university, how critical it is to diversify academic and extra-curricular interests and the importance of asking for help. Having gone through this transition themselves, King’s is grateful to have a wide network of alumni who are always willing to support current students and fellow graduates.

King’s Bling – Just for Alumni!
May 2021

Alumni often return to visit campus. But what if alumni could take a piece of King’s with them wherever they go? In May 2021, the Advancement Office introduced personalized class rings and alumni ID cards to ensure alumni continue to feel like a vital part of the King’s community. The class ring, engraved with their year of graduation, will serve as a reminder of their time here and that alumni will always have a home at King’s. When alumni decide to visit campus, their alumni ID will give them access to the facilities they frequented as students. In the future, they will also be used as loyalty cards for services across Jordan including restaurants, shops and malls.

Class rings and ID cards will be available to all alumni classes very soon.
