Understanding: Arts and Humanities Perspectives
These presentations explore the nature and effects of COVID-19 through the Arts and Humanities disciplines.
Essential Question
How have societies used the arts to navigate disturbing realities?
Using visual and musical arts, participants will appreciate how people in the ancient world, the 20th century, and the 21st century, confront the challenges of their lives.
To Do
- What would you like to see in the ‘new world’ of post-COVID-19?
- As you explore online, what are other examples of visual arts from the past that people adopt to explain this spring of 2020?
- What would be your example of a piece of “comfort music” for this spring?
- If you were to create a piece of visual art to commemorate this spring, what would be your theme?
- In what ways might you feel that you live inside of an Edward Hopper painting?
- What are other examples you find of how artists are responding to the pandemic?
