Theater Arts Faculty Member and Director
Job Overview
The Theater Arts Faculty Member and Director is responsible for teaching theater courses, directing major school productions, and fostering a vibrant performing arts culture on campus. This role includes teaching up to three classes per semester, producing theatrical performances, mentoring students, and actively contributing to the life of the school community.
Essential Duties
Teaching and Instruction
- Teach up to three classes per semester in theater arts and/or English department.
- With management approval, one credit may be substituted with other duties (e.g., study blocks, learning center responsibilities).
- Provide engaging, rigorous, and student-centered instruction aligned with the school’s academic and artistic goals.
- Assess and report on student progress regularly.
Theatrical Productions and Clubs
- Direct two major productions annually (fall and spring plays).
- Produce a winter showcase featuring selected scenes, such as Shakespearean or contemporary works.
- Lead three theater clubs that culminate in student performances.
- Lead an additional non-theater club as assigned.
Advising and Student Support
- Serve as an advisor to up to 10 students, providing academic and personal guidance.
- Support students in their artistic growth, leadership development, and personal well-being.
School Engagement and Community Participation
- Attend all faculty meetings, including departmental and all-school professional meetings.
- Attend sit-down lunches with students up to four times per week, as determined by administration.

Teaching Fellows
The King’s Academy Teaching Fellow Program is a two-year program with a one-year contract that will be renewed for a second year upon the teaching fellow's successful completion of the first year. The program gives new teachers a rich opportunity for professional and personal growth in an immersive boarding school setting. Through this program, teaching fellows will learn about the teaching profession through individual mentorship and group training, while teaching their own courses and guiding students outside the classroom in the student life program.
