Welcome to the fourth annual issue of Beyond King’s. We’ve come a long way since the first issue was published in 2013. At that point, we were purely an alumni magazine, whereas now we’re more a school magazine, with a big focus on one of our most important constituencies: alumni.
You’ll notice there’s quite an emphasis on the arts in this issue. That’s because we started out the year with Headmaster John Austin talking at Convocation about the important of the arts at a school like King’s, and as the year went by there was so much that was new and different and well done in the arts that we wanted to share as much of it as possible with you.
The big news at King’s this year is the upcoming opening of the Middle School. Read on to find out why it makes perfect sense for King’s to add grades 7 and 8.
These are just a couple of the highlights. There’s so much more, not least of which are some great alumni stories. As our alumni body grows in number and in age, so will these stories, something we look forward to highlighting in future issues of the magazine.
On a more personal note, I’d like to say goodbye and thank you to Writer and Editor Hanan Abdallah, whose name and imprint has been all over for the past three years. Hanan is off to greener pastures (literally, as she’s moving to the United States!) and she will be greatly missed.
