Grade Nine Merit Scholarship

Merit Scholarship Program

The King’s Academy Merit Scholarship Program awards merit-based scholarships of US $21,156 (15,000 JD) to selected outstanding Grade 9 applicants from Jordan. Families are not able to combine merit scholarships with need-based financial aid awards, so families of students selected as merit scholars must fund the remaining balance of tuition personally. Families in need of greater tuition assistance should instead inquire about the King's Academy need-based financial aid program.

It is expected that merit scholarship grants will be awarded to six to 10 recipients.

King’s Academy Merit Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • demonstrated academic excellence at their current school;
  • performance on the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) and the Merit Scholarship Test;
  • other qualities or talents that will have a positive impact on the King’s Academy community.

Candidates for the King’s Academy Merit Scholarship must be citizens or residents of Jordan. Students applying for need-based financial aid are eligible to apply for merit scholarships, but will only be rewarded one of the two grants.

  • Candidates for the merit scholarship must submit the King’s Academy Merit Scholarship intention form to register for the merit scholarship testing session.
  • Candidates for the merit scholarship must complete their application for admission to King’s Academy by the regular deadline of Thursday, January 10, 2019.
  • Candidates must attend the merit scholarship testing session on Saturday, January 19, 2019. During this testing session, applicants will sit for additional academic testing and complete the supplemental merit scholarship application.
  • Candidates must submit a merit scholarship letter of recommendation, completed by a referee who is not a school teacher or school administrator (e.g. coach, religious leader or employer) by Thursday, January 10, 2019.
  • Scholarship finalists will be invited to interview with the Merit Scholarship Committee in mid-February 2019.
  • Merit scholarships will be awarded on Thursday, March 7, 2019 along with King’s Academy admission decisions.
