Accrediting Institutions

NEASC
Founded in 1885, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), is the United States' oldest regional accrediting association whose mission is the establishment and maintenance of high standards for all levels of education, from pre-K to the doctoral level. NEASC serves more than 2,000 public and independent schools, colleges and universities in the United States, and American/international schools in more than 65 nations worldwide.

CIS
The Council of International Schools (CIS) is the premier worldwide accreditation organization for international schools. The CIS accreditation service manages a peer-to-peer accreditation program which encourages school improvement through the process of continuous self-study and peer evaluation. Working in partnership with member schools, it sets the standards for international education worldwide.

Accreditation

In June 2011, less than four years after King's Academy first opened its doors, it was granted full accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS).

The accreditation process has long been recognized in North American and international school circles as a highly effective means of initiating and maintaining school improvement and demonstrating adherence to a set of publicly stated external standards as well the school's own mission statement and philosophy standards.

Having received the award of international accreditation, King's Academy joins a community of schools worldwide that are dedicated to providing a high quality education in an international context.

In order to achieve international accredited status, King's was required to meet stringent entry requirements, verified by a preliminary visit led by CIS and NEASC accreditation officers, to determine its readiness for the accreditation process. It also had to carry out an in-depth self-study over a one-year period aimed at strengthening the school's programs and operations. It then hosted a visiting team of peer evaluators from international institutions. During that visit, King's had to demonstrate that it delivers that which it promises in its own philosophy and objectives and that it meets the rigorous criteria and standards for accreditation established by CIS and NEASC.

In 2016, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges Commission on International Education (NEASC-CIE) voted to continue King’s Academy in accredited status. In their five-year review report, the CIS and NEASC praised and congratulated King’s Academy for its continued commitment to school improvement and high educational standards. Read more

Benefits of Accreditation

The final award of full accredited status demonstrates that the member school has achieved high standards of professional performance in international education and has a commitment to its continuing improvement.

According to CIS, the award of international accreditation demonstrates that:

  • The school is devoted to its mission. It cares enough about what it does to seek validation by a recognized accreditation authority.
  • The school knows itself. It has thought deeply about the services it offers to students, family and community.
  • The school is student-oriented. Its philosophy of education is suitable for the students on roll, and encompasses the development of the whole individual.
  • The school keeps its promises. It promises only what it can deliver.
  • The school accepts objective assessment. It is prepared to open its doors periodically to regular evaluation by the school community and by outside experienced evaluators.
  • The school is constantly seeking to improve its performance in curricular and other areas.
  • The school plans for the future. As part of the on-going nature of the evaluation process, accredited schools are continually planning future developments.
