Born in Mexico, Rubi Saavedra Andres moved to the United States at the age of 16. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in international and global studies with a focus on the Middle East from Middlebury College. While there, she studied Arabic, French and Hebrew, and attended the Middlebury Language School of Arabic in California and the University of Jordan. Ms. Saavedra was also a Spanish and Arabic tutor, and volunteered with the Hispanic migrant community, as well as with the Arabic-speaking refugee community in Vermont and Washington D.C. While she was in Jordan, she volunteered at the Royal Academy for the Blind and the Collateral Repair Project where she worked with Syrian and Iraqi refugee children.
In 2017, Ms. Saavedra joined King’s Academy as a teaching fellow of Humanities in the Middle School and of Spanish, in the Department of World Languages.
