Head of Arabic in the Department of Communication, Rhetoric and Literary Arts (CRLA), Mohammad Al-Ashkar was born in Zarqa, Jordan and graduated from the University of Jordan in 2007 with a PhD in Arabic language and literature. His dissertation was titled “Interdictory Style in the Holy Qur'an: A Study in Structure and Significance.”

Prior to joining King's Academy in 2008, Dr. Al-Ashkar taught Arabic language and literature at Jordan's Al-Zaytoonah University. He has served as a visiting lecturer at the University of Jordan's Language Center and was the coordinator of the Arabic program for the Jubilee School for the Gifted from 2003 to 2007.
