Jeromel Dela Rosa Lara obtained a Bachelor's degree in social anthropology and comparative study of religion at Harvard University followed by a Master of Science in migration studies at Oxford University.

Mr. Lara is currently based in Jordan where he conducts fieldwork research and advocacy work with migrant domestic workers in the country and the Middle East at large. His undergraduate thesis about migrant domestic workers in Jordan received Harvard’s Hoopes Prize. The Hoopes Prize is Harvard’s highest award given to undergraduates for "outstanding scholarly work or research."

Mr. Lara is also a self-taught artist who sees art as a way of empowering communities and amplifying their narratives. He is a member of PintaKultura Amman, a migrant worker-led group seeking to support and amplify the artistic talents of migrant workers. With PintaKultura, he has helped design and paint murals in Jabal Amman and has taken part in multiple migrant-led art exhibitions. He is also part of a migrant church choir supported by the Pontifical Mission in Jordan.

Born and raised in the Philippines, Mr. Lara comes from a family of migrant workers who eventually emigrated to the United States. With his background in anthropology, he hopes to foster a greater sense of understanding of the diversity of the Middle East region.

Mr. Lara joined King’s Academy in 2024 as a teaching fellow in the Department of History, Religion and Society. In 2025, Mr. Lara joined the Department of Communication, Rhetoric and the Literary Arts as a faculty member.
